Welcome to the seventh week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I participated in an adventure race on Saturday (February 21) with two other people where we accidentally went in the wrong direction at one point. Monday (February 23) was the thirty-first day of my internship, and the first day that I worked until 6:00PM as part of my hour adjustments from last week. Early on, I decided to do metadata work and filled in a lot of lines before my shift ended. I was also very tired and moved much slower with my progress than usual. I ended up doing okay on my first exam for CGS2545C-0001 (Database Concepts) for Section 1 (16 Weeks) despite the runny nose, scoring a 66 out of 100. An extra credit session was offered by the professor as well, which helped me relax a bit. Tuesday (February 24) was the thirty-second day of my internship, and I did scan work without needing any help after askin...

Welcome to the sixth week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I participated in an Intramural Men's Floor Hockey game on Sunday (February 15), with the team I was on losing in a 6-1 blowout. Valentine's Day was very boring as well, but I got a small bag of candy from the Phase 1 Clubhouse at Knights Circle. Monday (February 16) was the twenty-sixth day of my internship, and I did metadata work after Jack Johnston managed to make good progress on that front. In fact, he reached the beginning of Volume V, which seemed to be only one volume behind from what the scan work has gotten to so far. One interesting ad I noticed was on page two of the 7/21/1955 edition of 'The Pelican' that advertised groceries, 'Ellison Acres Grocery' being the advertiser, as it reminded me of the food selection at Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia, a place I have been to many time...

Welcome to the fifth week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I watched Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots around 6:30PM on Sunday (February 8) at my brother's apartment. Seattle won 29-13 after a dominant performance from Kenneth Walker III (Running Back), which gave me despair as I wanted New England to win. Monday (February 9) was the twenty-first day of my internship, and after Dylan Gilberg scanned around one-hundred newspaper pages, I did the same thing, although a panic attack from CGS2545C-0001 (Database Concepts) for Section 1 (16 Weeks) regarding the lab occurred before my shift. Thankfully, everything turned out okay in the end, which extended to my scan work. A meeting with the other team members was scheduled for Wednesday as well. Tuesday (February 10) was the twenty-second day of my internship, and after Nathan Gregg allowed me to ch...

Welcome to the fourth week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I watched the 2026 National Hockey League (NHL) Stadium Series game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins around 6:30PM on Sunday (February 1) at my brother's apartment. Tampa Bay won 6-5 after being down 5-1. Monday (February 2) was the sixteenth day of my internship, and I did some more metadata work, which basically requires that each scanned newspaper page has their information such as volume and page number recorded in an Excel document. This also happened with the internship I mentioned a few weeks ago but under different circumstances. I recorded many lines of data while also taking a coffee break at Foxtail Coffee in the John T. Washington Center. Tuesday (February 3) was the seventeenth day of my internship, and I scanned many newspaper pages after proposing daily work alternation for me and the ot...
