Week 9 - 03/09/2026 to 03/13/2026

Welcome to the ninth week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I had to temporarily readjust my hours on Sunday (March 8) because of a scheduling conflict related to office hours for CGS2545C-0001 (Database Concepts) for Section 1 (16 Weeks).

Monday (March 9) was the forty-first day of my internship, and I did scan work. The sun felt brighter than usual during my shift, something I attributed to daylight savings time. I messaged the other team members about how much space was left in the thumb drive used for storing the scanned newspaper pages because that was an issue on Thursday (March 5), and they told me to delete any unnecessary files. That went well, but I was not able to scan many pages because it took nearly an hour for everything to be resolved.

Tuesday (March 10) was the forty-second day of my internship, and it felt a bit weird doing metadata work starting at 11:00AM. At one point, I decided to go to the leisure pool at the Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) on Friday (March 13) because it had been more than two years since I was last there. One interesting ad I noticed was on page five of the 7/4/1957 edition of 'The Pelican' that advertised beach supplies and prescriptions, 'Thomas Pharmacy' being the advertiser, as my first name is indeed Thomas.

Wednesday (March 11) was the forty-third day of my internship, and I did more scan work after Dylan Gilberg scanned around one-hundred newspaper pages. I also thought of why the Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) was constructed on the third floor of the Trevor Colburn Hall (TCH) instead of the first or second, alongside the small number of classrooms in that building.

Thursday (March 12) was the forty-fourth day of my internship, and I did more metadata work starting at 11:00AM. Another interesting ad I noticed was on page 8 of the 8/8/1957 edition of 'The Pelican' that advertised a cotton clinic, 'Reliable Cleaners' being the advertiser, as that concept sounded hilarious to me.

Friday (March 13) was the forty-fifth day of my internship, and I was not in the office due to my schedule. I had my second exam for CGS2545C, and I think it went okay just like the first one. For now, I will answer questions two and seven from the list of alternate timelines I presented last week. If I had resided in one of those three dorms, I would have gone to the RWC more often due to its closer proximity. Historically, I had to walk nearly twenty minutes from Lake Claire to the RWC. If I chose a different minor to accompany History (B.A.), it probably would have been Digital Humanities in the Age of AI. Historically, Information Technology was a way to enhance my career prospects.

Have a good day and thank you for reading this blog.
