Week 14 - 04/13/2026 to 04/17/2026

Welcome to the fourteenth week of my internship under the New Smyrna Museum of History (NS MOH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In-between Friday and Monday, I was very stressed out on Sunday (April 12) because of an overwhelming workload from my other courses. For this week, I decided to exclusively do metadata work for two hours each day because I still wanted to help out the other team members in some way even with the stress I was facing.

Monday (April 13) was the sixty-sixth day of my internship, and at the beginning of my shift, I thought about the possibility of going to Dr. James C. Clark's memorial service on Thursday (April 16) at 5:00PM if my workload situation improved. His death took place during the Fall 2025 Semester, and he had been teaching two course sections of AMH2020 (U.S. History: 1877-Present) for Section 1 (16 Weeks) when it occurred. Other than that, my shift was very uneventful.

Tuesday (April 14) was the sixty-seventh day of my internship, and I managed to make good progress in catching up with the scan work's time frame. During my shift, Dr. Rosalind Beiler and Dr. Ameila Lyons spoke about the historical projects they were working on, Nathan Gregg scanned some newspaper pages, and I thought about the possibility of staying up very late in order to work on my research paper for HIS4150-0W61 (History and Historians) for Section 1 (16 Weeks).

Wednesday (April 15) was the sixty-eighth day of my internship, and I did indeed stay up late, but not super late. My workload situation also improved just enough for me to go to Dr. Clark's memorial service. I asked the other team members if they were going to that service, and at least one said yes. Speaking of that paper, I have three solid pages from two days of meaningful work (which excludes footnotes and the optional bibliography), with eight at a minimum being required. The due date is April 20 at 11:59PM by the way.

Thursday (April 16) was the sixty-ninth day of my internship, and I had to leave fifteen minutes early for an online appointment at the University Writing Center (UWC). The reason why I did not stay in the Center for Humanities and Digital (CHDR) past 2:00PM for the appointment was because I needed to go back to the L3Harris Corporation Engineering Center (HEC) building for more office hours for CGS2545C-0001 (Database Concepts) for Section 1 (16 Weeks) right afterwards. One interesting ad I noticed was on page three of the 3/19/1959 edition of 'The Pelican' that advertised Easter treats, 'Dan's Bakery' being the advertiser, as it reminded me of this year's Easter.

Friday (April 17) was the seventieth day of my internship, and this was the first ever Friday that I was in the office due to my schedule. If my exclusive focus on metadata work for this week proved anything, that would be how life is sometimes unfair.

Have a good day and thank you for reading this blog.

Dr. James C. Clark
(May 22, 1947 - October 24, 2025)
Rest in Peace
